Belladonna: Belladonna (family Solanaceae = nightshade family), is found in Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa. Used is the fresh, flowering plant without rootstock. The deadly nightshade is very toxic because of its high alkaloid content.

Homeopathic indications;

     inflammatory diseases of the eye in all animal species
     conjunctivitis
     keratitis
     Corneal opacity

Inflammatory diseases of the eye, e.g the eyelids, the conjunctiva and cornea, can be influenced favorably with Euphrasia officinalis. An optimization of success in treatment is achieved in the preparation Keratisal by combining Euphrasia officinalis with Atropa belladonna, as both organ-specific components are aimed at the inflammation of the eyelids, the conjunctiva and the cornea.

Keratisal® can be used for both acute and chronic conjunctivitis and corneal opacities (keratitis).
In case of purulent conjunctivitis Hepar sulph is the remedy of choice.(Weravet Staphylosal)

The advantage of Keratisal® is that this remedy can be administered orally or by injection. This is particularly suitable for the treatment of animals who are difficult or impossible to treat with locally applicable drops or ointments.
As a complementary treatment to local therapy on the eye Keratisal can also be recommended. Keratisal can be given over a longer period of time, in chronic processes, such as in superficial keratitis and spots or ulcers on the cornea of dogs (Boxer, German Shepherd Dog) . As a post-treatment and additional treatment of conjunctivitis follicularis as well as after the rinsing of the nasolacrimal ducts (tear ducts), Keratisal can be of great help.

As local application for cleaning and care of slightly irritated eyes. Add 10 drops or 1 ampoule solution for injection in a cup of boiled water or fennel tea. With this solution, the affected eye may be washed out and be freed from adhesions and crusts. (Do not use external in eye injuries, inflammation of the eye, or keratitis)

In the cat and the rabbit Keratisal® can be used as an additional treatment of rhinitis. The use for other animals is possible.
